Help

Answers, and a way to reach a person.

Most things are answered below. If they’re not, write to us — a person reads every message and replies.

Something happening in a room right now?

Leave. The button is right there, there’s no penalty, and you don’t owe anyone an explanation — your picks from any room you finished still count. Then report it from the room itself, or from the screen you see when you leave, and a person will read it the same day.

Something isn’t working

My camera or microphone isn’t working

Your browser has to be given permission, and it asks once. Look for the small camera icon at the right-hand end of the address bar, click it, and set both to Allow — then reload the page.

If they’re already allowed, something else is probably using the camera. Close Zoom, Teams, Meet or FaceTime and reload.

Which browsers work?

Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox, kept up to date, on a laptop or a phone. Rooms run in the browser — there’s nothing to install.

If you’re on a work laptop, IT sometimes blocks camera access at the system level. That one we can’t fix from here.

I can’t hear anyone, or they can’t hear me

Check you haven’t muted yourself — the mic button is at the bottom of the room. Then check your computer’s own output: headphones plugged in but the sound still going to the speakers is the usual culprit.

The device check before every room tests both. If it passed there and failed in the room, tell us and we’ll look at it.

My connection keeps dropping

Your seat is held for a short while each time, so a brief drop costs you nothing and nobody is told what happened.

If it keeps happening, wired beats wifi, and closing other tabs helps more than you’d think.

I can’t sign in

Use the same email you joined with. We send a code and a link to it — either one signs you in. There is no password, and no other way in.

Blocking or reporting — which do I want?

Blocking is yours alone. Instant, permanent, no reason needed, and they are never told. You’ll simply never be seated with them again.

Reporting tells us something happened, and a person reads it. Use it when someone did something we should act on — not just when a room was dull.

They’re separate, and blocking someone doesn’t report them. If it was bad enough that we should know, do both.

I missed the room and I don’t know why

Rooms open at a fixed moment and close a few minutes later. Check the time zone on your account is the one you’re actually in — a recent move or a VPN is the most common cause.

Before a room

What if there aren’t enough people?

We tell you as soon as we know — usually two days before, not on the day. You’ll get the next day offered with it, already chosen, so there’s nothing to sort out.

Can I cancel?

Freely, up to 2 hours before, with no penalty ever. After that it counts as a no-show, which affects where you sit in the queue for future rooms — never your wallet.

How do you decide who’s in my room?

From what you told us: the hours you can make, who you want to meet, your age range, your non-negotiables, and how you are in a conversation. Anyone you’ve blocked is never seated with you again, and neither is anyone you’ve already been in a room with — unless you both asked to be put back together, or you say yes when we ask.

Do I have to answer all those questions?

The first set, yes — we can’t build a room without them.

Part two takes about 7 minutes and unlocks your second booking.

During a room

Can I turn my camera off?

You can mute your microphone any time. The camera stays on for the whole room — for everyone, including you. If you need to stop being seen, you leave the room.

What if my camera or connection drops?

Your seat is held for a short while as you reconnect. Nobody is told what happened. If you can’t get back, the room carries on with 3 and the seat is released.

What if somebody doesn’t turn up?

The room runs with 3. It’s the same questions and the same 45 minutes — you each just get a bit more of it. The empty seat closes; nobody new joins mid-room.

What if I have to leave?

Leave. One tap, no questions. Your picks from any room you completed still count.

Is any of it recorded?

Rooms are live video. We do not save audio or video recordings. Conversation processing is optional: with your microphone permission, Groq turns your speech into text and OpenAI reads the text, for host prompts and matching. We keep facts, preferences and conversation observations for internal matching. With separate transcript-review permission, administrators can review text from your microphone for up to 7 days to improve analysis quality. Everyone chooses separately. Stop processing, stop review or forget learned data in Settings.

After a room

How do I know if someone picked me?

If you both picked each other, you’ll both see it after your last room and a chat opens. If they didn’t pick you, you’re never told — there’s no “seen”, no count, nothing.

What if nobody picked me back?

You’ll see that there are no chats to open. That’s all it says, because that’s all that happened. It’s common, it doesn’t mean anything about you, and your next room is already there.

How long do messages last?

For the life of the conversation. The privacy page says the same, and changes the day this does.

Can I meet the same person again?

Usually not — we seat you with new faces first. If you both marked one more room, we’ll deliberately put you back together. And if you want to keep going and no new faces are left, we’ll ask before seating you with anyone you’ve met.

Your account

What does it cost?

Nothing right now. It’ll be US$19 a month, the same everywhere in the world, and you’ll get 30 days’ notice before that starts. Nothing begins on its own — you’d have to choose it.

Why do you need my face?

So that each person holds one account, and everyone in your room is a real person rather than a bot or someone using another person’s photographs.

It happens when you join. Our verification partner processes your camera capture and face template for liveness, age estimation, and duplicate checks. We keep the result and a reference. Your capture is never shown to other members or used to decide who you meet.

Taking a break, deleting your account, or seeing and correcting what we hold are each your right. To use any of them, write to privacy@prettymutual.com.

Contact us

Write to hello@prettymutual.com and a person reads it — not a bot, not a form that vanishes. If it’s about something that happened in a room, report it from the Safety page: it reaches the same person, marked as a report.
